Steven Wayne Ketcherside
February 17, 1970 - February 11, 1999
Steve is the son of Bernard & Martha Ketcherside, brother of Jeff (Vicki) Ketcherside, and uncle of Megan, Melissa, Madeline, MacKenzie, and Macy Ketcherside, all who reside in De Soto, Missouri.
Steve was a lifelong member of the St. Rose Parish and De Soto Community. He received his elementary education at St. Rose of Lima School and was a graduate in the class of 1984. Steve had many fond memories while attending St. Rose and participating in various sports and activities. It was during his nine years at St. Rose that Steve met his closest friends. He would have been proud to know that in his memory his family and friends will be assisting other children in attending St. Rose to enjoy the same experiences he did.
Steve received his high school diploma from De Soto High School in 1988. It was during that time that Steve earned the nickname "Speedy" which was how he was known by many. After graduation, Steve was employed at Chrysler Corporation in Fenton and was a member of the United Auto Workers union. Around that time, he and his friends also became members of the Knights of Columbus in De Soto.
An avid outdoorsman, Steven enjoyed numerous activities that involved being outside. He loved to spend summers by the water swimming, boating, camping, and floating. The cooler months were a time for him to go hunting. No matter what he was doing, it usually involved being with his family and friends. Whether it was having fun or helping them with work, he was always there for them because they were very important to him.
Steve's family and friends will fondly remember him as the loving, giving, and caring man that he was. It is because of his generous nature that the Steven Ketcherside St. Rose of Lima Memorial Scholarship Fund was created.
